NEC SX-5

One of Environment Canada's SX-5, fully loaded at 16 vector CPUs (each many times the power of the most powerful desktop computer CPUs) and 128 gigabytes of RAM. It is approximately 6 feet tall, for scale, and from the top is shaped like an H (with uneven length, you can see the further "leg" being shorter). Opening one of the side-panel you throw a strong, warm wind, even though the air came directly from the air conditioning system. We had more than one of these, able to communication through a 16 gigabytes per second cross-bar switch.

In short, one bad ass system. :-)
