The discount store at the site of the former Ontario Theater cleared out recently, leaving a clear view of the old lobby.

Makes me want to cry! I saw "The Sound of Music" at the Ontario back in 1965. It was a first-run venue at the time, so sad to see what's happened to it in the meantime. But at least no one has torn it down yet.

Did I mention that half of it was turned into a CVS? The chain has a nasty habit of moving into old DC theatres. The Biograph, The MacArthur, The Dupont, The Ontario. I saw Man of La Mancha and The Little Prince here.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Amoeba Shapes of the 40s and 50s, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

I saw many cool bands here as well. Also performed at the Ontario opening a show for The Cramps, Slickee Boys and The Teen Idles.
