The child appears to be a bit agitated. Very nice photo.

It's a tricky one, we vote for girl - although the socks and shoes suggest boy, when zoomed in there is a short dress with a wide belt with a fancy buckle and a buttoned pleat - we think a boy would have shorts at this age. Very cute all the same!

The child looks like a girl, but in a way the child has some boyish features as well.

i think it is a boy - the stance and the hat seem "masculine"

More than likely a boy ... considering his clothing ... and yes, during this era and at this age, a boy would still have worn a tunic suit or pleated dress with a slouched belt. There may be matching shorts under the tunic, not visable in the photograph, and more often than not it was a boy who would have worn this type of belt.

Boy, probably...but...doesn't it look like Shelly Winters? (I'm sorry for calling a living person - at least in this photo - an 'it'. Doesn't seem right. But we don't know whether it was a boy or a girl.)

I think it's a boy too, young boys were often dressed like this at the time this photo was taken.
Fashions have changed a lot over the years, at one time no woman would have been seen dead wearing trousers (pants to you in the US) these days they not only wear trousers but mens suits.
