Monorail Monday: Orange Blur #Disney #Photo

    Newer Older

As usual, I was flipping through my photos looking for a shot to post today when I came across this... uh.. shot.

I figured I would post it on account of today being 'Monorail Monday' but to be honest, this photo is just some monorail trial and error (with an emphasis on error).

I was playing around with some ND filters and had some crazy ideas in my head, but couldn't get the two to cooperate to make an image worth keeping. Sure, I kept this one - but only to remind myself what not to do next time :)

Hope everyone is doing ok, and has been staying cool despite the heat. People think I'm nuts because I love those 100 degree days (and up) but I know they aren't for everyone.

If you're too hot, please have a Dole Whip on me!

    Have a great day,

    -Alan

What a fun experiment, the motion blur and the smooth water are wonderful. If you think this was more error, I can't wait to see what you really had in mind for next time!

NICE NICE NICE!! I've been trying to get a perfectly smooth monorail shot during the day like this for awhile but just haven't been successful at it yet! Love this!

I know you said this is your trial shot, but it's really awesome. The monorail blur pairs nicely with the water blur with some vertical vs. horizontal dichotomy.

That looks neat! I like the blur of the Monorail.

I love this "error" as well. Wish my mess-ups were this good. I'll echo the other comments about the great double blur of the water and monorail. I also like the little strip of blue water at the base of the fountain. It mirrors the blue of the sky.

I hope I get similar results on my "trial & error" shots. This is fantastic!

      Awesome! Real nice work!
I plan on trying the ND filter long daytime exposure on the monorails in the coming year.

Not sure what you don't like about the shot: I think it looks great.

Cool, I've tried the ND with monorails before, but your execution turned out a lot better than anything I got.

Thanks... it wasn't quite what I was shooting for, but it was still fun to play around with ND filters and slower speeds during the day. How the hell did you end up back on this shot though?

LOL, I think you posted it on Twitter or something, so I followed the Flickr link to see the settings.
