Broken UV filter

    Newer Older

It fell out of the car when I opened the back door. It is a Canon EF 24-70 f2.8L on a Canon EOS 1D 4mp DSLR. Except for the destroyed 77mm Hoya HMC SUPER UV filter, camera and lens works fine.

I carefully removed all the broken glass and then I used two pliers to remove the filter ring.

      Heroic filter :)
I am going to show this photo to people who don´t bother to buy filters to protect their lenses.

@aspechtl: the 24-70 does not have IS ;)

Even thought the filter saved the lens from almost everything except a few small scratches in the paint, I will not try it out with mine. And: I would say, the lens hood would have even saved the filter, and the lens hood is less expensive. Maybe even nothing would have happend to the lens hood, regarding that it is made of plastic.
