The Fictional Quilt

Completed in the spring of 1991, this was my first attempt at crazy quilting. It is machine pieced and hand embroidered. Designed to be strictly a wall hanging, it doesn't have batting between the top and backing. Some of the embellishments are buttons, acrylic paint, fabric paint, lace, beads and shrinky dinks. In addition to the usual quilt cottons, the fabrics include old silk neckties and corduroy (used for the border.)

It represents some of the books I enjoyed that year. Some I had just read for the first time. Others were old favorites I'd recently revisited.

Cick here to see all of the blocks in detail.

(Photo was edited to change the color of the background behind the quilt)

Update 6/13/2007: Thank you to Woof Nanny for your kind words about my quilt in your book blog, Dog-eared and Underlined
