• Nice! I tried doing this on one a while back but failed. - Legohaulic
  • thanks! I'm still not sure i've got the angles where I want them but It already looks better than I had imagined.
  • Would a yellow tooth plate fit here? That is, if they exist. - -Ecto-
  • Yeah that is rockin'!!! - .Tromas
  • For some reason, I just love this little SNOT bit here. - B♠nzai
  • I'm no fan of Star Wars, but I am of this model. This bit in particular stands out. - Mad physicist
  • i think that yellow tooth plates might exist (maybe i'm thinking of tan along with my bad eyesight) but the yellow part holding the tail on is a 2 stud wide plate, with a hind in the middle. so the only way that the concept that you're proposing would work is if there is room under the slope peice that the top left corner of my not box starts on. good idea though, that little bit of black is slightly unsightly - Raptor Fett GP
  • They come in Bright light orange, but I'm not sure if that would be helpful.

  • Oh man, yeah, well done right there. - Shadow Viking
  • Thanks ralph, I love the shape of this thing tremendously. The whole concept of it as a space fighter is hard to rationalize though.
  • well, it looks close enough for me =) - origamiPete
  • there are a lot of better ways to deal with that gap. I'm going to just go 3 studs wide there most likely.

naboo starfighter 007

Newer Older

I made a lot of body changes. The tail section still needs a lot of work and I had to sacrifice the opening cockpit.

Honestly, I think this is probably the best looking starfighter in all of sci-fi, and you've done it terrific justice! Just a little more tweaking and it will be nearly perfect. I love the building techniques and overall think it's a great execution. Nice work!

I want to see the bottom ;)

hmmm, doubtful I will be able to get that to work. While it would look awesome if I could do it, I care more about having clean lines.

NO, don't look! not yet! My previous iteration actually had a really nice SNOT underside but I'm not sure I will be able to make it work with the new sidewalls.

Beautiful work. You captured all the elegance that has been lacking in the Lego sets.

For the positioning of the R2 units, did I not see their heads telescope above their bodies? If I remember correctly, the droid socket does not allow for the legs that high up in the actual starfighter. I could be wrong though.

    Fantastic angles and very sleek!

To make a quick suggestion, have you considered using these in place of the cones in the front? I think they would help to round out the shape a bit.

  14. psiaki 36 months ago | reply

I had that in the previous draft but I like this solution better right now.

Sorry, I meant to suggest they be used for the engine cones rather than in the nose (which, for the record, looks fantastic). Four of these around a SNOT core might convey the curvature there better than the cones.

How do you plan to have the wings sag? That would really supplement the great nose shaping.

That sounds interesting! It would definitely be a way how to make this model further different from the other ones! =D

ok that makes a lot more sense! I'll play around some but my goal with this ship was looks over accuracy. The big thing for me with the naboo starfighter is that it is very sleek and streamlined. While your solution is probably close to true form, it would also add a lot of blockiness that I'm trying to avoid.

And I think it's safe to say I speak for a few people, PLEASE make some sort of plans available for this once you're finished tweaking.
