Red Fighter

A plane from the film "royal space force: the wings of honneamise". I didn't build it because I like the movie, I watched the movie because I like the plane.

I previosly built this plane, but never completed it: version one. That plane was inspired by Tim Gould's version.

The colors on this got really weird(that is a baby blue background). That's what I get for not taking the time to set the white balance.

John: Mike tried that canopy in Version 1 of the Schira-DOW 3rd
single-seat fighter. At this scale, I'm partial to this take... I guess it's a
    personal preference :)
And it leaves him open to try the 2-canopy RAF twin-seat trainer ;)

    It's a shame this part

isn't available at half the size, because it'd look
perfect for the prop with a red decal on the tip.

Wow, what a beauty! Love this.

I don't care if it's sturdy or not Mike, half of my models can't be swooshed without the wings ripping off.

    Just curious is all.

I remember Wings of Honneamise - saw it years ago and I remember this cool plane. It's a really impressive model! Does the landing gear actually fold up too? It looks like it might.

tooMuchDew, thanks a lot for those pics. I've made some pretty big changes after seeing what the thing is actually supposed to look like.

also, jonhal: the landing gear does fold up

brilliant piece of work - nicely scaled and detailed

Officially awesome. I think the new canopy matches the feel better than the naboo fighter canopy.

I made it a lot better after seeing the model pictures. The wings had way too much sweep and the engine was a little large.

^ Eh, I say it's cool the way it is, though I can't wait to see your update. ;-)

(I generally don't blog WIPs, but this wasn't when I bookmarked it, and I didn't re-read the comments. So, you know, yadda yadda Blogged by The Brothers Brick.)

^well, to be fair, it wasn't a WIP until TooMuchDew decided to point out all of the flaws ;).

I can't honestly say I think this is an attractive aircraft (engine is too big), but you've come up with a terrific render of the original.

Very cool to see how you handled that nose. I've been taking notes of your work for my own building lately.

Mike: my every comment was complimentary... I just pointed you to some photos other than screen grabs of the movie ;) I love the animé-inspired MOCs you, Jon Hall and others have made :)

Oh, I get that you weren't criticizing or anything. It's just that when I saw those pictures it made me realize all the things that needed to be changed.

Again, not something I'm upset about. I was glad to be given some more accurate pictures as there were only a couple good angles of the thing in the movie and it seemed to change shape quite a bit.
