January 2011 - Vacation on Grand Cayman - Cruise Ships at Anchor

Visiting cruise ships are a big part of the economy of Grand Cayman. It is very common to see three or more of them swinging at anchor just a few hundred yards offshore of Grand Cayman near the port city of Georgetown. On the day we visited Georgetown, there were four anchored -- the M/V Carnival Freedom, M/V Carnival Inspiration, M/V Gemini and M/V Jewel of the Seas.

This is the M/V Carnival Inspiration, a Fantasy Class vessel that was completed in 1996.
