Even up to 18 months ago, Thor's Well had a certain allure. It was a mystical place that only the giants like Miles Morgan, Aaron Reed and Sheldon Nalos had tread. Something happened in the past year though and word of this wonder hit the mainstream. The mystique has vanished. Yesterday when I was there in heavy double overhead surf, dozens of mom & pop snap-shooters were out there, ignoring the danger and happily snapping among the waves.
It's still an amazing place and the lava shelf here at Cape Perpetua is a photographer's playground. Everything looks like a comp, but the uniqueness is sadly gone.
So this has me thinking. What's the next great Oregon subject?
