This is Steve.
Long blonde hair, shapely tanned legs…
Approaching from behind, I don't believe I'm the only road user who has taken a long, admiring look at the fine figure of Dalston's "lollipop lady". I'm not going to be rude and say that I was disappointed when "she" turned around, it's just that Steve's bearded and bespectacled face wasn't quite what I was expecting.
While cycling from Land's End to John o' Groats, we were passing through Dalston when we saw Steve. It turns out that he runs Mystery Cycles (or Mr E. Cycles, depending on his mood) from behind the Butcher's shop, but also helps Dalston's schoolchildren to cross the road too. What a lovely, lovely man. Very happy to have his photo taken. Very friendly, very talkative.
An interesting fact about Steve? His favourite film is Departures. A Japanese film about a newly unemployed cellist who takes a job preparing the dead for funerals. Based on Steve's glowing review, I've just bought the DVD and will be watching it on Sunday evening. Thanks Steve.
