Carex simulata
A sporadically common sedge that forms dense stands in wet area, including seeps on cliff faces. The dioecious habit (often all male in this area and conspicuous because of the long white exserted staminal filaments), formation of dense stands, and high elevation habitat combine to suggest Carex simulata as the identity of this sedge. This site lies along the Middle Fork of the Kings River on the way up to Muir Pass from Le Conte Canyon.
