012/366 A family treasure

{EXPLORE #177 - January 12, 2012}

(Our Daily Challenge - RESOLUTION)

(Ellenburg Photography Project 52 - Week 2 - FROM THE ATTIC)

(112 Pictures in 2012 - #48 - OLD)

Technically, we don't keep things in attics around here, but this Canon Rapid Winder is a family treasure that would have been in the attic had we had one! :-) This camera belonged to my dad and will always be special to me since he is no longer with us.

It is probably 40+ years old and has a 50mm 1.8 lens. Of course, it is a film camera and the shutter speed, aperture, and focus must all be done manually. I wish I would have had a bulb for the flash unit to use in the picture, but there was none when we found the camera in my dad's stuff.

One of my resolutions for this year is to get a roll of film and see what I can get out of this camera. It will be a true test to see what kind of photographer I am shooting in film and with no help from the camera as far as the settings go!

I kind of liked how this shot has a old-time antique B&W feel to it even though I shot it in full color mode. Speaks to the simplicity of older products with a simple design...
