Born 1982, Kathmandu, Nepal, Tenzing Rigdol lives and works in New York


His work ranges from painting, sculpture, drawing and collage, to digital, video-installation, performance art and site-specific pieces. He has been widely exhibited internationally, and his artworks are included in museums as well as public and private collections worldwide. He has also published three collections of poetry, ‘“R”—The Frozen Ink’ (2008), ‘Anatomy of Nights’ (2011) and ‘Butterfly’s Wings’ (2011), printed by Tibet Writes. He lives and works in New York. In 2010 in Dharamsala he staged a site specific installation Our Land Our People, involving 20 tonnes of soil smuggled out of Tibet and reconstructed as a platform for the Tibetan community in exile.


In 2010 he was one of nine artists of Tibetan heritage included in the groundbreaking exhibition Tradition Transformed – Tibetan Artists Respond, at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York. In Feb-June 2014 he is included as one of only two contemporary artists in Tibet and India: New Beginnings at the Metropolitan Museum NY. His works have been acquired by private collections in Europe, the USA and Asia, as well as public collections in Japan, the US and UK.
