I spent the weekend with my 85 year old mother. She fell and broke her shoulder in 3 places so since I work during the week I stay with her one weekend and my brother stays the next. She enjoys our company more than the things we help her with. Love my mom.

I made a bee-ootiful faux fireplace cover...I'm renting and the fireplace is a tragically 90's white and pink ceramic tile. I bought a piece of plywood for $13, 14 packages of wood shims for $.97 a piece, stained them, laid 'em out in a cool brick-like pattern and voila! Brand new, one of a kind fireplace! And...I made a delicious seafood pasta for my family!

I celebrated my parent's 34th wedding anniversary! We had a wonderful long weekend of celebrating, relaxing (watching the Pioneer Woman marathon on the Food Network!), eating good food, and enjoying each other. It was the perfect way to spend our Labor Day weekend. Oh, and of course lots of time with the pups :)

My adult daughter and I spent the day together. We started off by shopping for school supplies for her class. She teaches 6th grade at a Charter school. When we got home I cleaned our grill. We had a huge fire in the grill the night before so I thought cleaning it before we used it again would be a great idea. Took me 2 solid hours (my daughter said it was because I went above and beyond) to complete the task. While I was cleaning, my daughter finished staining my planter box. When the grill was done, my daughter threw on a couple of beer brats while I fixed baked beans, potato salad and corn on the cob. We ate dinner together while watching Harry Potter's "Half-Blood Prince (we are in a HP movie marathon). After that she went down stairs to her apartment while I surfed the internet. Great day!!!! Oh yeah, also spoke with my grandbabies. Can't beat that!
