    Nicole, can you explain why the trim is so far away from the door edges? I'm dealing with a difficult door in the garage and I'm curious what you did here.

    The foundation was very thick (you can see it here), so the walls inside are offset pretty far from the exterior of the house.

    Okay, so between the trim and the door is drywall? And the trim is covering the door jam seam?

    The trim extends from the door to the drywall, and in between the drywall and exterior upper portions of the wall is insulation.
