It looks like a party dress turned on its side and tied at the waist. And it's gorgeous. :)

That's such a nice way to look at it!

WOW! these are adorable! Can I ask if you used a particular pattern? I was thinking of simple roman shades for my dining room, but the ribbon detail is just so sweet!

I just made a panel the same size as the window and hung it with a tension rod. Then I looped ribbon around over the top, gathered up the bottom (and used clips to hold the folds temporarily in place), and tied.

I wanted to do Roman shades, but I didn't think I could pull it off. This was my first sewing project!

Oh, and I didn't have a pattern, but I based the idea on this: Bow-Tie Window Shade.

I cannot find this fabric anywhere on any of the sites offering Amy's fabrics. Where did you get it??? I want this exact color & everything!

I bought it in 2007, so it's probably pretty hard to find by now (out of print).

Okay, I found the fabric (Amy Butler Wallflower [Lotus Collection] in Mustard), but cannot find matching ribbon. I found something similar but it's not exact. Ideas?

I used 'vintage gold' grosgrain ribbon from Paper Source.

Do you think thi pattern goes well in dining chairs? I have mine from Ikea and I hate the cover, so I usually do them myself. Loved the yellow, the graphic but organic pattern. My table is from Ikea as well, a cheap (in so many ways...)version of your Parsons in expresso
