10-2-2008 Highway 2 Landslide
Highway 2
One mile East of Crookston, Minnesota

Landslide that is affecting highway 2 just east of Crookston, Minnesota. Its 500 feet long and over 9 feet deep as of October 2. The west lanes of the highway began breaking up as land underneath shifted toward the river, in a bowl-like slide. The soils moved to create a sandbar-type pile of materials along the eastern bank of the river. It’s a short section of highway that’s very close to a bend in the Red Lake River.
