Ikibana

Phalaenopsis orchid. This orchid spray looks like a graceful flower arrangement, hence my title. "Ikebana" is from the Japanese ikeru (生ける?, "keep alive, arrange flowers, living")and hana (華?, "flower").

Early in April our Executive Director called me into her office to see the orchid she had been given. So lovely I asked her if I could photograph it. The picture above was taken at that time. Just a few days later she called me into her office again. She said, "I found an orchid just like mine and want to give it to you" and she handed it to me. I was, well, blown away! The pictures I've posted before ~ they're of the orchid she gave me. I can't stop looking at this extraordinary creation!
