      Los perezosos son mamíferos que habitan en los árboles, muy relacionados con el armadillo y el oso hormiguero. El perezoso puede ser encontrado en el trópico de Centro y Suramérica, agarrándose a los troncos de los árboles, colgándose boca abajo de las ramas de los árboles, o moviéndose lentamente a través de los árboles, alimentándose de la vegetación.

      El perezoso rara vez se encuentra en el suelo, donde no puede caminar, sino que debe arrastrarse por el suelo, siendo fácil presa del jaguar, fiero depredador. Animal nocturno y solitario, el perezoso es un buen nadador.

      Los perezosos se camuflan realmente bien, ya que entre su pelaje marrón crecen algas verdes, siendo muy difícil verlos en el entorno arbóreo.
