Good morning and Happy Dragonfly Thursday to everyone. Today's featured dragonfly is a Flame Skimmer (Libellula saturata) or Firecracker Skimmer as it's sometimes called, which is native to western North America.
As for these photos, they were taken at a small pond in the foothills of the Palomar Mountains in San Diego County on my recent trip to California. Same general area as where the turkey, lizard, and Lorquin's Admiral pics were taken. I also saw a couple of other different dragonflies, but due to time constraints was unable to get any pictures. Although I did get to photograph one new damselfly, which I'll post at a later date.
