..no, not that weed :-)
Good morning. On this typically slow day here on flickr I thought I would post another series on a wildflower. Featured is a true miracle weed, being Prunella vulgaris or more commonly known as Selfheal or Heal-all. While it's common across the United States and Canada it's very low growing and inconspicuous. You've probably walked right by it when afield and never noticed it or gave it a second thought. Especially since it's flowers are extremely small and not very showy.
To give a sense of scale to the small flowers I've posted a couple of pictures in the comment section with common butterflies feeding on them. Since the plant is so low growing I had to almost literally lie on the ground for the butterfly shots. The two photos of the wildflower itself were photographed at "the pond across the street" while the butterfly pics were taken in an area near my favorite field.
I hope you enjoy this series on this lovely, as well as beneficial, wildflower and find the text in the comment section informative.
Thank you for visiting...and I hope you have a most pleasant Saturday and weekend.
