Sun on my wings...

...a Red-spotted Purple Admiral basking in the late afternoon sunlight.

Good morning. Todays postings are four (4) images of the very elusive Red-spotted Purple Admiral butterfly, which is rarely seen feeding on flowers. I can't think of once when I've actually seen one on a flower since it's one of the species of butterflies that feeds mainly on tree sap versus flower nectar. Usually they're seen flying about in trees, on the ground, or resting on some foliage as this one was when photographed.

I hope you enjoy today's images of a truly lovely butterfly that in spite of it's name appears more blue than purple...and I hope everyone has a great day.
