North Fork Shenandoah - July 25

The Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) – Quantico and Fort Belvoir Programs hosted a day trip on private access to the North Fork Shenandoah River near Maurertown, Va., Sat., July 25. Approximately 30 Warriors, Volunteers Guides and family members attended the all-day event. This was the largest family-attended PHWFF group event at this location to date.

The warm morning grew into a brilliantly sunny, hot day and everyone wet waded into the clear water and fished on more than a half mile of private direct access on the Shenandoah River. Several different fish were caught including bluegill, small mouth bass, sun fish and even catfish.

All equipment was provided to the Warriors and family members and lunch was provided.

Several new Warriors and their family members attended and Volunteer Guides gave casting lessons to Warriors and family members during the day.

Family members played in the river and also used the owner’s private pool.

This event was held on the private property of a PHWFF supporter and Navy veteran. (Photos by Lally Laksbergs)
