Spring has to count among my favorite time of the year for photography - the vibrant green of trees sprouting new leaves, buds transforming into rainbow hued blossoms, rivers flowing as raging torrents, and the mere sight of color everywhere - all make for wonderful subjects.
This photograph was made to highlight the stark contrast between the sequoias and the dogwoods. Despite being delicate and ephemeral, the dogwoods compete for attention with the tall, strong sequoias that stand guard at the park season after season, year after year. On balance, while these two subjects represent contrasting emotions, they seem to exist in perfect harmony.
This image was made at Sequoia National Park.
