Canon 50mm f/1.4

    Newer Older

Roaming the streets of London with this lens is tantamount to
cheating, frankly; it's such a beauty that it's nigh-on impossible to
take a bad photo with it. I'll keep trying, though, obviously.

Oh, and in case you wondered, the camera body is a 450D.

Photo taken with my iPhone, and slightly desaturated in Photogene (the iPhone app) before uploading to Flickr via e-mail to my TOP SECRET UPLOAD VIA EMAIL address)

Great lense, high quality low weight. Very high speed focus for a non L lense.

I have one. A great lens. The f/1.2 is pretty sweet, but too expensive.

It's amazing what quality the iPhone camera can give you when used correctly.

Yeah, I am actually quite surprised by it a lot of the time. The new 3GS camera is far, far better than the original 2 iPhone cameras - the autofocus really helps, and the extra megapixel gives you that tiny little bit of extra flexibility for cropping and such. When paired with an app like Photogene (which has all the very basic photo preparation tools; levels, saturation, rotation, cropping, etc), it's actually a pretty useful camera!

I thought about getting one of these while I was looking for my Mark 1 Nifty Fifty, but I found one of those first (and it cost a lot more 2nd hand than the new Mk2 version!)

It really is hard to beat a 50mm. It just makes sense and is so nice to use...

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)

hard to believe that this is an iphone photo. :P

the cam on the 3gs must be much better than on the 3g. the pics from the 3g are mostly useless.

I'm quite fond of the Photogene app. I would have never known this was an iPhone capture, very nice!

I have the cheap 50mm f/2.8 on a 60d for street do you think its worth upgrading to the f/1.4 ?

    20. 58 months ago | reply

I probably would consider at least trying out the f/1.4 - there's a pretty big difference between the two lenses.
