Supply Transfer- from supply ship to the USS IOWA Sepia 1957 Meditearean Sea

I know it looks like the ship is not much higher then the water level.......WELL, if I remember, this area is between 15 to 20 feet above the water on a calm day.

This was scanned from an 8X10 that was printed in the darkroom on the USS IOWA while in the navy.

On this day one of the men who was part of the detail lost part of his leg when a cable broke.

To answer a question why sepia: First it makes the photo looks older. Second I was not happy with the contrast of the Black and white. This photo was takes with a fixed lens camera with no lens adjustment.

Thank for asking.
