Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis)

I have been watching this pair of Woodpeckers since they started excavating the nest hole in the oak tree.

I placed a dome hide near-by and once the female was sitting on eggs I started to photograph them.

It's just across the lane from my house so I can get in place at first light.

They are close to fledgeing now and occasionally I have had the second bird come in while the first bird was still feeding.

Until now I have never managed to get both birds in the frame. One was always higher up or round the back of the tree.

Today I got lucky.
