Leigh Lake Reflections, Grand Teton National Park

Newer Older

On a recent trip to the Grand Tetons while shooting with Adrian Klein, we rarely saw the sun. One very calm morning I spent some time out at Leigh Lake and some great clouds developed over Mt. Moran. I know there is a bit of distortion that might bug some people, but it doesn't bother me much. If I knew a good way to fix it I might, but whenever I try, I loose quite a bit of quality (using the lens correction/vertical perspective).
Thanks for looking! Chip

Goodness me. What a beauty! I have just joined, and it was such a pleasure to encounter your gallery. I realise that you are a professional photographer, but would have suspected so even without reading your profile. What can I say, except that I am looking forward to see many more wonderful and vibrant creations from you.

Hi, im an Admin for `Howards Gallery` and would be very honoured if you would consider posting your stunning photo into the Gallery.
This Gallery is so different than anything flickr has done before, as it is an easy place to belong to and participate, yet you have to have exemplary work to be invited here, and it is my opinion that this wonderful piece here belongs with us ……. I hope you will post this picture of yours with pride into the Gallery..…and we look forward to seeing more of your talent in the future......Kind regards..Caz (A)

Great job - great location and timing. This is very Galen Rowell-ish. :)
You had mentioned not liking the distortion of your wide-angle. It's hardly noticeable and is expected on such a grand view in a single frame, especially from an SLR.
If you want to improve these, shoot with about 2x the angle of view (in this case, closer to a 45 or 50mm), and shoot as a vertical panorama. It would not only reduce any angle distortion, but would greatly increase the resolution of the image. With this particular image, you could have shot this in 4 horizontal frames as a vertical panorama and it would have been awesome. Hope this helps.
