New Walk Museum
Most of the outings that are part of the group that aren't the weekly evening meet up are arranged on the Facebook group and this was no different.
I was thinking of going into town to do a small project on street photography, which I may go back and do another day, but one of the other members posted a message on the groups site asking if anyone wanted to do anything.
A couple of others also commented and we decided to meet up with the idea of going somewhere in town but no specific place had been organised.
This was the first time that I had met one of the clubs newest member and to see more people joining the club is always good.
We went into town with an idea of going to the Guildhall and having a look around. On the way there we passed the car park that is being dug up trying to find the remains of Richard III. It wasn't open to the public, but you can get a view from the outside of the people working in there.
Also on the way to Guildhall, we passed a church that was open so just had a quick look round there. I would have been a lot better using a tripod, but I made the most of the equipment I had available to me.
After doing a few interior shots in the church and the guildhall, we move on and decided to just walk around nearer the city centre and do a bit more of a street photography style of images.
We ended up making our way round to town hall square where the fountain is and there were quite a few people around. We also met a couple of musicians that were singing around there and took a few photos for them.
With a bit of time still on our hands, we thought we would go over to New Walk Museum and see what was there. On entry we asked where we could photograph and where photography was not allowed and then just walked round where we could take photos.
There wasn't long left that the museum would be open, so we had a quick walk around thinking we could come back any other day in the next few weeks.
These outings are great fun and a great way to spend a day when otherwise I would probably be sitting at home doing nothing and watching tv. This is one really good thing about Leicester Photographers Club, meeting other people interested in photography and going out to places I wouldn't normally think of going to take photos.
