After visiting Glacier National Park this past summer, my wife and I headed down to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Nat'l Parks for our "honeymoon". We were lucky enough to get a room in (a way out of usual league) hotel about 7 miles north of Gardiner. We decided to photograph Mammoth Springs that night, as that was the closest. After sitting through constant rain and even some hail (wouldn't be the last on this trip), the clouds finally broke. One of the most amazing skies I've seen. As I had my composition set up (a different one -- directed more at the really insane clouds), I hear this lady yell: "wow, look at the rainbow!". Well, it took about 10 secs to run over and set up for this shot. After about 3 more exposures after this, it was gone. I have more from this afternoon I'll be posting later.
Single RAW exposure. Singh-Ray 3 stop soft GND mainly over the top right part of the image to hold back the light. Slight level adjustments in CS4.
