Haïti 23/52: Western Heroes
Along the dusty trail, two UN cars in the sunset. The title was too tempting to be avoided, but the truth of UN peacekeepers (an other helpers) is far more complicated than that.
I shall not use this space to discuss why, I'll just note that it can be difficult to help and create independence from help at the same time. And that there is no guarantee you do the right thing morally or practically at all times, even when intentions are good.
The average age on Haïti is little more than 20 years, about the same amount of years that UN has spent in the country. The future is not yet written.
