Yesterday we went to the Snow Ranch in the California Central Valley east of Stockton to launch rockets. The event is organized by LUNAR, the biggest rocket club in the USA. My son just turned 18, ready for high power rockets. He had a successful flight and got his level 1 certification for high powered rockets. This shot shows my son in black shirt celebrating the successful flight with a friend.

Emboldened he went for a second flight, this time with a camera strapped to the side. The second flight resulted in a CATO (Catastrophe At Take Off). Rocketry is fun, failure means learning, and is part of the fun.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure.
