Last night we went to San Francisco to see the New Year's fireworks along Embarcadero near the Ferry Terminal. The fireworks were nice - the LED animated Bay Bridge played along in the symphony.
This is a good example why RAW is better in many situations. I always shoot in RAW and JPG. The fireworks on the JPG version are over-powered, the center is just a big white blob. The RAW version has many color hues and is well balanced. Unfortunately the photo is not sharp, I must have moved the tripod a bit during the 6 sec exposure. Even with a steady tripod it is not always possible to get a steady shot by manually pressing the shutter. I chose this photo because I like the mood it conveys. I HDR-processed it to enhance the micro-contrast. I finally reduced the color saturation slightly to give it a natural look.
