There's a ton of shots on Flickr of Bannerman's Castle ... but I had to post one of my own.
This was taken on a southbound Metro North train headed to NYC (Hudson Line, east bank of the Hudson River).
Like countless others, this structure is totally fascinating to me. It sits literally on a small island just of the east bank of the Hudson River between Beacon and Cold Spring, NY.
It's got an interesting story behind it and because it's in ruins, protected by the river and tough to access and ... well ... it's actually a castle, after all ... it's likely got it's share of tall tales surrounding it, too.
For years, if you wanted to check the place out, you did so on your own and at your own risk since the place was officially off limits. Now however, there are official tours of the place and one of these days, I'll have to go check it out up close.
