Crowds flock to visit Iraq Day 2012 cultural festival - London 04.08.2012
On 4th August 2012 - despite the occasional shower - thousands of Iraqi ex-pats and their families, tourists and interested locals flocked to the Thames Walk on the Southbank to explore and be entertained by the Iraq Day 2012 Cultural Festival, organised by the Iraqi Cultural Centre and Bayt Al Hekima.
Visitors were treated to a day of Iraqi and Kurdish traditional folk and contemporary music from The Sumer Group, The Baghdad Ensemble, The Azar Kurdish Group and Mohamed R. There were also several food stalls set up by long-established Iraqi Restaurants in the capitol, an ethnic fashion parade and displays of Iraqi arts and crafts. Starting at midday through to 8pm, the festival was packed with visitors of many cultures.
