Seen at the Alverstone Mead Nature Reserve. This little lady was happy to pose, whilst eating a hazlenut.
Having visited Alverstone Mead, on four occasions during Nov/Dec 2011, a summary of my sightings might be of interest. The squirrels come in a variety of colours:
Black-tail (with matching black ear-tufts)
Orange
Brown (as above)
In total, I have identified 10 individual squirrels:
3 black-tail (1 male, 2 female)
3 orange (0 male, 3 female) including 1 juvenile
4 brown (3 male, 1 female) including 1 juvenile male
The males are fairly easy to identify. Those which I have not identified as male, I have classified as female.
