eastern pygmy possum (Cercartetus nanus)

The eastern pygmy possum is a small possum, weighing up to 40 grams. It has a prehensile tail and is found throughout Eastern Australia in a range of forest types from heathland, Eucalypt forest and rainforest. It is threatened in NSW, however due to its cryptic nature may be more common than we assume. This possum was captured during a fauna survey in a tree mounted trap targeting Sugar Gliders on the Newnes Plateau in the western Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia.
