The "16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence" runs from International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Nov. 25) through International Human Rights Day (Dec. 10).


Organized by DC's Women's Human Rights Action Network www.amnestyusa.org/women in solidarity with other groups throughout the world a rally was held in Dupont Circle on Saturday, 3 December 2005 to bring attention to the ongoing 'Stop Violence Against Women' Campaign www.amnestyusa.org/women.


This particular rally, in Dupont Circle, was held to bring attention to the 'End Femicide in Mexico' campaign. Pictures displayed at the base of the fountain represent some of the 400 women and girls in Juarez and Chilhuahua, Mexico, that have been murdered. More than 70 are still missing.
