Martha Graham's studio

Description: Helen Keller with her hands raised, while a group of women, including Martha Graham, dance around her, as part of a specially choreographed sequence for the film Helen Keller in Her Story (also known as The Unconquered). She is able to feel the vibrations of the music.

While filming Helen Keller in Her Story, Helen Keller visited Martha Graham's dance studio in 1954. There she listened to drums by feeling their beats, and participated in several of the dances by feeling the vibrations of the music and movement of those around her. More footage from her visit to the studio can be seen in this video.
