52.flames! flames on the side of my face!

    Newer Older

My first Le Creuset dutch oven!! It's the 6.75-quart oval pot, which I chose for its shape and ability to accommodate all sorts of yumminess, like a whole chicken, lamb shanks, and more.

    The color name is "flame."

man, broadway panhandler is such an awesome store. i worked nearby for three years and spent many a lunch break there. i pretty much built my kitchen from all their sales. good choice! i've wanted one of those for a long time.

yay! you will love it so much. i love this color.

We have the smaller 5 qt oval in Flame too but I often not regret registering for the larger size as the 5 qt really only feeds two. One day I'll have to upgrade to this size!

Oh, I'm torn. On the one hand I'm so envious; on the other I wonder if, as a non-meat eater, this is something I even need anymore. And yet it's always been, like, the pinnacle of my kitchen desires.

@Ashley: I'm making french onion soup tonight--and I've made fr onion soup vegetarian before. also i think it would be good for setting up canning jars, should i ever get around to doing that. and i want to make that no-knead bread!

I make vats of chili and marinara sauce and soup and just about everything you can imagine in mine! It probably only sees meat about 50% of the time.

: there's a really good cookbook called Glorious One Pot Meals where all the recipes are cooked in a dutch oven and the vegetarian chapter is 45 pages long. There are also fish and seafood chapters if you do eat those.

Oh, I know, I know. The problem is that I have a heavy soup pot that works as a dutch oven just as part of my regular cookware set, and so I can't really justify the purchase of a super-expensive new one whose most awesome feature is its ability to brown and braise meat.

Wow, I've only recently heard more about what Le Crueset really is, and only now did I realize how much I can't afford it right now. :( (I've been seeing The Pioneer Woman giving away quite a few in recent weeks, too. Now I definitely need to enter, if she has another giveaway!) Flame is the color that's definitely been catching my eye when I've seen them, though! More gorgeous orange!

I've always wanted a Le Crueset, but will have to settle on my knock-off (admittedly, a very nice Martha Stewart) dutch oven, at least for now. They really are amazing though.

Lucky girl! That is one nice pot!
I bought my first Crockpot yesterday. Not quite as nice as Le Crueset, but I'm tickled nonetheless. I'm planning on cooking a whole bird, with lime and cilantro for tonight.

I just wanted to mention that we got our Le Creuset at the outlet store for a considerable discount (40%, I think?). It was a "second" but there's nothing wrong with it, as far as I can tell! For those of you in the NYC area, there's an outlet at Woodbury Commons.

OMG. Jealous. I adore this stuff and totally can't afford it. Yet.

My friend in Glasgow found a lovely big Le Creuset pot in a bin once. Washes with boiling water and bleach, and then washes with hot water and dish soap and she was golden. Golden, I say!

I get that line stuck in my head ALL THE TIME. (I'm trying to not reach through the computer to use your oval pot...)
