Manhattan Beach Pier Sunset

    Newer Older

I am on my Bronx encore with the Manhattan Beach pier. Play it again until you get it right. I keep going out there and keep shooting and processing until I can reliably repeat my good fortune of the other day. This is a shot from the other side of the pier, which is better because the sun is behind the pier. I guess I should shoot it with a higher ISO to get the waves better. Next encore. View On Black

Photomatix of 3 exposures -2, 0, +2. In PS surface blur on the clouds to remove HDR induced noise, unsharp mask with radius 140 on the water for contrast, then orange filter, contrast curves and then darkening curves masking the house and the white water. Cropping and straighten horizon in lightroom.

Criticism, advice and comments very welcome.

Looks great. I think maybe parts of the water are a bit too dark, but these shots are quite hard to process. I even have trouble with stuff like this.

This inspires me to do this setting in watercolor. Is it ok with you to use it? Thanks so much.
