Warming the bones

    Newer Older

    Funchal, Madeira, Portugal

CM : To show the way the elderly people, at least in Portugal, behave. After a hard working life, with a small pension, and without hobbies created during their life time, they spend the time contemplating the worl going around.

The image has nice color but it has a few lighting problems with a few hot spots (over exposed) where detail is lost.
      Composition: 6
I think a crop is needed to draw focus to the scene and move it out of a snapshot look and feel.
      Eye Appeal: 8
The image of the 4 men is really natural and relaxed and is very charming.
      Commercial Viability: 4
I think the image could be stronger with a crop and some adjustments with post processing using levels. I think the image has little commercial applications as it stands now.

This is a great shot. You photograph the young and the old with the same great eye! Thanks again for letting us use another of your photos at our site. As I think I emailed you before, the photo is up at the top page of our Portuguese related translation site at portuguese-translation.aaronlanguage.com/index.html. I wanted to thank you publicly though and let you know that we have changed our site a little.
You are still credited with your name underneath, but your name is now linked to our credits page at portuguese-translation.aaronlanguage.com/portuguese_credi.... Your name is credited on the page and links to your profile at flickr. Thanks again!

Very good. Their body language is very interesting here. You have done well to document a part of elderly society in Portugal. Great street work.

I would like to try my hand at basing a watercolor painting on this photograph. What would be involved in getting your permission?
