Queen Charlotte at Charlotte/Douglas International, Charlotte, NC, USA
This is a view of the sculpture, "Queen Charlotte" by Raymond Kaskey, the centerpiece of a plaza fountain at the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was dedicated to the City of Charlotte in 1990.
The fountain was included as part of the new international concourse improvements at the airport at that time.
Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg is the namesake of the City of Charlotte. The sculptor intends that Charlotte appears to be "supported by the wind."
