Pipevine Swallowtail eggs

Freshly-laid eggs of Pipevine Swallowtail, Battus philenor on Virginia Snakeroot, Aristolochia serpentaria. The eggs are about 0.9 mm in diameter, and this was the highest magnification I could get--lens was set to 4X, and the final magnification on the browsing size image is about 40X. Funny, I've seen the eggs several times, and they always appeared smooth to me.

I'm happy with the photo, but it was difficult to get the color balance just right at this magnification--I may correct this in the future.
