Dogwood borer

Synanthedon scitula, a pretty little wasp mimic moth. There are a couple of similar species, but looking at the images and discussions on BugGuide for this genus, this one does seem to match S. scitula, which is widespread and commonly photographed. Larvae bore in dogwood and other deciduous trees.
