Whitey and a Canada Goose

Piscataway, NJ Summer 08

Do you know the type of the white goose (or is it a duck). It lived for several years on Lake Nelson in Piscataway, NJ. It was semi-domesticated, interacting equally with wild geese and walking up to houses to interact with people and ask for handouts. It could only fly about 50 feet and didn't migrate with the ducks.

It may have interbred with the canada geese, or else other "hybrids" returned each year. see Hybrid Geese for photos.
