    East side of S Dearborn, from Congress. I wonder what was on the other side of the street before the junk now there. The Manhattan, at right, is one of very few remaining Jenney buildings -- he designed the Home Insurance building, the pioneering steel-framed proto-skyscraper.

      Was this taken from the top of the parking garage?

      I think the same thing -- such a wonderful collection of buildings deserves something just as good across from it.

      No, just from Congress' median. The MCC parking garage would have a nice view from the other angle, although I believe it's one of the few downtown that does restrict foot access. (Apparently, women whose men were locked up next door used to go up there on summer evenings and express their devotion through "interpretive dances.")
