Last Friday a load of birds flew over the garden and the underneath of their wings was red. I had no idea what they were, but followed them to where they perched in the Yew tree. It was quite cloudy, so I couldn't get any clear shots, but then saw this one on his own on a distant branch. When I uploaded it I thought I must have missed the red-winged birds and just got a Thrush instead. But that night on Springwatch they were talking about Redwings (A bird I'd never heard of) and how they were in the Thrush family. So I took another look at the photo and saw the tiniest showing of red in his 'armpits', and he's got the cream stripe over his eye they mentioned.
