Playing around with a DIY snoot -- a sheet of common computer paper ball-bungeed around my SB-28DX flash. I had the flash (attached via SC-17) on manual mode, zoomed to 70mm and on 1/4 power, and the camera set to 1/500th at f/8, I believe. I was chasing my 5-year-old around the house with my homemade 'snoot', and when he had gone into our bedroom to hide from me, I went into the bathroom, and waited for him to come back out. I had my SB-28 about ear level and as he ran down the hall, I aimed the snoot and fired just as he saw me.
Although I'm more formally trained in photography than I am my current job, I only had one lesson in studio/lighting techniques and I pretty much bombed that lesson. So, I'm reading all I can at Strobist and some other books that I've purchased, and learning on the fly...
After all, you have to have SOMETHING to photograph when it's too rainy and wet in the PNW to go shooting outdoors.
Oh, and yeah, I'm new to Flickr and this is my first post to the Strobist group. Be patient with me as I learn the ropes :-)
